Constructing The Boat House, the Most Extraordinary Florida Keys Boat Storage Facility
The all-new Boat House in Marathon, Florida is being constructed with the highest
quality material and engineered to withstand winds of
155 MPH. The Singh Company has contracted with a recognized
leader in the marine storage construction industry, Roof
& Rack, who bring over 30 years of experience developing
dry boat storage systems across the country.
A distinctive building unto itself, this sophisticated
facility will be infused with the latest in marina storage
technology and a state-of-the-art forklift. A leviathan
by Keys standards, the boat storage building is a marvel
of dry marina storage ingenuity that encompasses an entire
acre. Its shear size alone will accommodate storage for
200 vessels, ranging up to 36’ in length, 13’
in height, 11’ in width, and up to 22,000 lbs.,
on 3 separate levels of reinforced racks.
To maximize space and strengthen the buildings overall
structure, the intricate racking system will utilize cross
braces, which will enable the racks alone to support the
building. The added weight of the boats, when placed in
the racks will increase the supportive strength of the
boat storage building.
Safety and protection are ubiquitous when dealing with
heavy boats, especially with their storage. The fire
suppression system in the boat storage building will
provide each dry slip with a separate sprinkler system
protection. Precisely situated above every dry slip,
water sprinkler heads will ensure protection and safety
for all stored boats.
To combat the utilitarian element of the common warehouse,
the boat storage building will be given added depth
and aesthetic appeal. The exterior building face will
be made of strong durable aluminum accented with green
Bahama-style shutters that will produce an articulated
façade reminiscent of an historic Keys working
waterfront warehouse. Turrets will define the building
corners and a unique green roof system will add further
dimension, providing a complimentary feature to the
surrounding Key West Conch-style luxury waterfront homes.
